Well, it's snowing here, again. We had just gotten rid of most of the snow from the last storms. And now we've got some more. Luckily, when the weather is crappy like this, I can work from home. Sure makes it nicer.

Last night, we had our square dancing club board meeting here. Vera was all stressed out about it. You know we've got our daughter Maren and her family, husband and 3 kids, living with us. Means that the house is usually messy. Well, she was all concerned that the board members would be upset with our messy house. So much so, that she couldn't sleep Saturday night. Well, we all worked at it and got the house looking great. And the board meeting was a complete success. Now she can relax.

Snow and the Utes

We got about a foot of snow last night and this morning. It started out raining and then turned to snow, so it was wet and heavy snow. Looks like I've gotta go out and get to snowblowing. At least I've got a nice snowblower now.

Geocaching

Vera and I have been geocaching for a couple of years now. Check out their web site if you want to understand it: Geocaching. Anyway, one of the challenges that the Utah Geocachers put up was Cache Across Utah, where you're supposed to find a cache in all 29 Utah counties. Well, Vera and I have been working at it and we were down to just needing one county, San Juan, down in the Southeast corner of the state.

I had the day after Christmas off for vacation, so we decided to go down to Blanding and get our last county. And while we were down in the area, we decided to swing through New Mexico and Colorado and pick up a couple of extra states. Since it had snowed on Friday morning and I had been out snowblowing all morning, we didn't get away until the afternoon. So we drove down to Cortez, Colorado, and spent the night there. Boy was it cold. It got down to about 4° during the night.

Saturday morning, we headed over to Dolores, Colorado, about 10 miles away, and picked up a cache there. Then we drove down to Shiprock, New Mexico, and found a cache there. Next, since we were close by, we went over to the Four Corners Monument. Vera just had to have some fry bread, even though it was only about 20° and the wind was blowing.

After that, we headed up to Blanding and got our final county. Then we headed home. However, since it was late on Saturday, we stopped for the night in Moab. Then home. It was a fun trip, but we were sure grateful that we took the Durango. There was a lot of snow on the roads and it just went right through all of it.
